Hello, friends! And welcome to another post from Questfortheshark.com. I am your blogger, Jeff White, and I’ve got a sweet little post for you today. As a few dozen or so of you know, my good friend Mano recently released episode 134 of All Tings Considered which featured Team Sped members Ben Farkas, Jamie Parke and yours truly hijacking a podcast dedicated primarily to Old School MTG to discuss MTG art. Mano is not part of the episode, nor is our good friend Will Magrann. The TL;DR is a crash course on why we collect art, how we got into it, where to buy, what’s the entry level investment and of course pure Sped nonsense. Since Mano is so bad at posting show notes and freely admits it often and without irony, I’ll be adding some show notes of my own. We hope you enjoy them!
Normally I’d save the money shot for the end, but here’s Jamie’s Icy!
I can’t decide on my favorite piece but I lean toward Fireslinger.
Farkas’ favorite piece. The objectively best work, or the most nostalgic piece?
My mom’s favorite piece. I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t.

My man cave collage. Top-right is an original MTG themed work by Jesper Myrfors. Many artists will commission original work or repaints for reasonable prices. The Jolrael’s Centaur got traded to Farkas for Simian Grunts in an ad hoc trade at the end of the episode.
Come to daddy! This will look good next to Gaea’s Embrace. Ever embraced a Simian Grunt? Trust me, you haven’t lived until you’ve done it.
You can also grab some awesome work by MTG artists that aren’t MTG themed. Depending on the artist you can get some very cool and often affordable work. Images 1 and 2 are original drawings by Donato Giancola from his Song of Fire and Ice work. Image 3 is by Randy Gallegos from his Hearts for Hardware series.
Ben Farkas is a good man, and thorough. He gifted me this most Venerable Monk for my wedding. Ben and I gifted this nice little Biskelion to Parke for his wedding.
Mano gifted this dope-ass Binding Grasp to Jamie as well.
I’m super jealous these dudes can hang art: where ever. the fuck. they please. (In my best Teddy KGB voice). Also, sweet dog with a sweet name: Avon Barksdale.
My only piece not confined to my basement is in my office.
And Parke’s insane Sutfin collage!
And now a dump of the rest of the stuff!
oh yeah, plus Wang Smash!
OK, well, that about wraps it up for this week. I hope you enjoyed it. I don’t really have anything else to add, um, so as usual thank you so much for reading, and I’ll see you next time on Questfortheshark.com.
